Cad&Cam Zircon

Zirconium; is an element that is impact-resistant, light in weight, non-conducting of heat and electricity, and translucent.


The usage of the material zirconium in dentistry, which has been employed in different areas for years, has brought about many improvements towards superiority in several aspects such as aesthetic appeal and stability in this field as well.

The difference of zirconium substructured porcelain facings, which do not differ from classical porcelains in the stages of tooth preparation and measurement taking, arises in the laboratory processes. Zirconium can be produced by means of computer aided devices with Cad Cam technology. In this system, which basically comprises scanner unit (Cad), abrasive unit and sintering stove, substructures can be produced out of zirconium oxide blocks as well as titanium or glass-ceramic blocks. In this method, measurements taken from the patient's mouth are scanned by optical readers (3D scanner) into a computer environment. Data obtained with the aid of a camera is uploaded to the computer. After the 3D designs (CAD) are made and the production stage (CAM) begins. By means of milling systems, zirconium blocks are cut and shaped by CNC programs, eliminating human errors. Sintering comes next with a special oven that reaches an approximate temperature of 1500 C. Zirconium reaches its maximum strength from this process, which is equivalent to a coefficient of flexion of 120 mpa.
